Each summer, approximately 50 Bard students receive Community Action Awards (CAA) from the Center for Civic Engagement. CAAs support student efforts to engage with communities locally, nationally, and internationally by providing funding for participation in unpaid or underpaid internships that address issues impacting people around the world. Worldwide internship placements include local community organizations; local, state, or national government agencies and offices; international governmental and nongovernmental organizations; media, public policy, and nonprofit organizations; and educational projects or programs.
The maximum award is $3,000. Students are expected to work at the internship site for 30 hours or more per week for four to eight weeks. Read about previous Community Action Award recipients here.
