Bard Center for Civic Engagement Celebrates 10 Years

Community partners gather inside Blithewood on the Bard College campus for the 2019 Center for Civic Engagement Annual Celebration.
The Bard Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) celebrates its 10th anniversary by honoring community partners. The festivities will take place on Friday, September 24, 4pm to 6pm, at Blithewood lawn on Bard’s Annandale campus. All New York State COVID-19 guidelines will be in place. Attendance to this event is by invitation only.

Civic engagement is at the core of Bard’s institutional mission, reflecting the fundamental belief that higher education institutions can and should operate in the public interest. CCE initiates programs; fosters sustained partnerships; and supports and connects student, faculty, and staff of Bard’s local, national, and international networks as they work to make a difference in the civic life of their communities.

The work of CCE would not be possible without the dedication and generosity of community partners. This year, the 10th anniversary celebration recognizes the following individuals and partner organizations:

Dan Budd, Community Hero Award
In honor of his work in the Red Hook community during the COVID-19 pandemic

Troy Ellen Dixon, Community Hero Award
In honor of her work in the Kingston community during the COVID-19 pandemic

Lifetime Learning Institute at Bard College, Crusader Award
In honor of their 20-year commitment to learning across the ages
(Award will be accepted by Nancy Kryzak, LLI President)

Felicitas Thorne, Champion Award
In honor of her unwavering support of civic engagement at Bard
