Civic Ambassadors Funding Facts Vol. 8
The fire company’s capital campaign seeks to raise $4 million, and public dollars make up a sizable share of that total. Federal funding accounts for the largest contribution: Congressman Pat Ryan secured $500,000 in Community Project Funding for the expansion. New York State added another $100,000 through the Local Community Assistance Program, directed by State Senator Michelle Hinchey. At the county level, Tivoli received $300,000 through Dutchess County’s Municipal Investment Grant program, along with an additional $100,000 for ADA-accessible improvements.
Private fundraising, including a $250,000 matching commitment from Bard College, complements these public investments and helps leverage local donations. Together, the mix of federal, state, county, and private dollars is intended to reduce the financial burden on any single source while allowing the small village to move forward with a project that would otherwise be out of reach.
Supporters say the funding reflects the essential role the volunteer fire company plays in regional emergency response and community safety. Local residents will closely monitor the project's progress, scrutinizing the use of taxpayer-backed funds to determine if the final cost matches the promised benefits.
