Jonathan Becker’s New Book on Youth Voting Rights Featured in Multiple Publications

The newly released book Youth Voting Rights: Civil Rights, the Twenty-Sixth Amendment, and the Fight for American Democracy on College Campuses, co-edited by Jonathan Becker and Yael Bromberg, demonstrates the power of coalition building in the face of voter suppression, particularly across generations and institutional actors. Built upon the network collaborative course The Struggle for Voting Rights at Colleges, this GHEA21 initiative highlights the issue of voter suppression through a combination of coursework, video and written case studies, and the culminating book, all available as open educational resources.

“The current moment represents, in many ways, the antithesis of the idealistic spirit which marked the start of my professional career. One can only hope that the lessons from the class and in this book, culled from generations of engaged and determined students, faculty, administrators, and their allies, will help highlight the path to a better and more democratic future.”
