US Universities Must Do All They Can to Counter Voter Suppression

Jonathan Becker, Director of the Center for Civic Engagement, Erin Cannan, Dean of Civic Engagement at Bard College, and Yael Bromberg, a constitutional rights and voting rights litigator and a professor at American University Washington College of Law, argue that American higher education institutions have historically extolled the link between higher education and democracy. If institutions are to give this meaning, then leaders need to invest resources – moral, financial, intellectual and organisational – to promote and defend the most foundational democratic right: voting.
